We are very proud to announce that here at April Ford, we are officially carbon negative!
This is a sustainable stepping stone we set out to achieve ahead of the GiveAF launch, coming soon in 2022.
As a large digital marketing agency located on the Sunshine Coast, we understand the importance of giving back to the community and doing our part to preserve the environment. With this in mind, we asked ourselves: what is our carbon footprint? And how can we future proof our footprint on the environment?
We engaged Carbon Neutral to assess April Ford’s organisational greenhouse gas inventory AKA our carbon footprint. From this report, we learned that our gross emissions from the 1st of July in 2020 to the 30th of June in 2021 were 53.66 tonnes of CO2-e. When we considered our use of renewable electricity, our net emissions were reduced to 36.60 tonnes of CO2-e.
Certified 100% carbon neutral, we utilise Powershop for our renewable electricity, ensuring all carbon emissions associated with our energy usage is offset.

We purchased these carbon credits from an initiative here in Australia supporting the Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets. David Attenborough has expressed the importance of 'rewilding the world', a concept that calls for action to protect our natural environments. The Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets initiative encourages such rewilding through the reintroduction of endangered species, combatting desertification and providing crucial habitat for thousands of species of unique wildlife in a Global Biodiversity Hotspot in Southwest Australia.
When it came to selecting which initiative to invest in, we were blown away by the number of projects, both international and domestic, that we were able to support. Despite many initiatives being substantially more cost-effective than the Biodiverse Reforestation in Australia, we held and continue to hold the belief that it is incredibly important to invest in our own backyard — now more than ever.
We turned our carbon emissions into trees and are now considered carbon negative! Check out how you can do the same for your business.
